Interview with Stephen Ebbett – President of ProtectYourBubble.com ProtectYourBubble

INTERVIEW QUESTIONS:

  • ProtectYourBubble.com is a new site that offers the opportunity to secure insurance for valuable assets.  What motivated you to create such a site?

ProtectYourBubble.com’s purpose is to provide protection for the things in your life you might not always think to insure, but are very important to you, at an affordable price. Our #1 focus is to offer great coverage at an affordable price. We work hard to develop all of our products around this philosophy.

  • What types of assets do you protect?

ProtectYourBubble.com provides lifestyle insurance for the modern consumer. Policies provide coverage for things like mobile devices, appliances, computers, travel, rental car damage protection, pets, renter’s insurance, and even identity theft protection.

  • Often insurance on these types of products are offered immediately through the sales office originating the sale.  Why should someone buy from ProtectYourBubble.com vs. Best Buy for example?

The best way to save money and ensure you have the right coverage is to do your homework. By looking for insurance coverage that goes beyond limited manufacturers’ warranties, being fully aware of policy terms and limitations and making sure you receive the best value. Thanks to the Internet, you can easily evaluate available coverage, compare plans side-by-side and look for special coverage features.

By doing this, many consumers discover that independent plans offer great coverage for a lower monthly fee. For example, when looking at smartphone insurance, many manufacturers’ protection plans (warranties) cover defects only. Some extended warranties cover accidental damage under limited circumstances but leave consumers completely unprotected in the event of a loss or theft. Protect Your Bubble’s smartphone insurance, for example, covers loss, theft and accidental damage and consumers will receive a replacement device quickly. Plus, if the phone is stolen, we provide access to Credit Monitoring Services for three months to help consumers keep an eye on their credit.

  • Who is the primary company behind ProtectYourBubble.com?

Protect Your Bubble is part of Assurant Solutions, a division of Assurant, Inc. Headquartered in Atlanta, Protect Your Bubble offers convenient and affordable protection programs to suit the modern consumer’s lifestyle.

  • How do you market your service?

We provide affordable options that are easy to purchase online. In fact, it’s possible to purchase a policy in less than three minutes. Time is precious and ProtectYourBubble.com works tirelessly to provide the easiest solutions for consumers on our website. In addition, we regularly engage with consumers on social media sites like Facebook, Twitter, and Google+. And, our television commercials, and other fun videos, are available on our YouTube channel.

  • A number of my readers are in the media, so as we conclude this interview – what two things would you want them to know about the uniqueness of your offering?
  1. Protect Your Bubble isn’t your typical insurance company; we like to challenge convention. Insurance shouldn’t be about the fine print, complications, and hassle; it should be about protecting the things that matter to you.
  1. It’s important for consumers to evaluate the pros/cons of coverage for their lifestyle. It may not be for everyone. But, sometimes people assume they have coverage when they don’t or expect that they’ll receive replacement items quickly when that’s not the case. Here are some tips for consumers  to keep in mind as they decide whether or not to should insure their stuff:
  • Take a look at your deductibles and coverage: Maybe you have homeowners insurance and assume that it will cover an expensive appliance. But many homeowners have deductibles that exceed the value of the appliance, so in effect, the appliance is unprotected. Perhaps you rent your home and think your landlord will take care of damage to the contents you own in case of a mishap that isn’t your fault. Chances are, your stuff isn’t covered. It pays to find out.
  •  Look closely at replacement costs: Many consumers purchase items like smartphones and tablets through a carrier that subsidizes the actual cost. However, if your smartphone or tablet is lost, stolen or damaged and you don’t have insurance on it, you may be required to pay the true purchase price to replace it, which can be considerably higher than the original price you paid.
  •  Evaluate the true cost of self-insurance: Some people assume it’s cheaper to just pay out of pocket to replace lost, stolen or damaged items rather than insuring them. That depends on the rate you pay and the cost of the item you’re replacing. Will you have enough cash on hand to replace items you use every day if you need to? It’s important to make an informed decision.
  • Review your choices: There are more options now than ever before when it comes to insurance, and it’s easy to compare insurance rates online and find affordable coverage for everything from gadgets and appliances to rental cars, renter’s insurance and travel. You don’t have to take whatever the car rental company is offering or accept only manufacturer’s or in-store warranties and insurance policies. Shop around and then make a decision.
