Political Ethics

Clinton and Trump – Wag The Dog here?

Let me get this straight – Bill Clinton (reportedly http://onpolitics.usatoday.com/2015/08/05/bill-clinton-donald-trump/ ) urged Donald Trump to take a more active role in the GOP.  This might be political ethics at its worst or best depending on your perspective.

trump_clintonThe USA Today article states:

The Post cites “four Trump allies and one Clinton associate” who said that, in the call, Clinton encouraged the billionaire real estate developer to take on a more active role within the GOP.

Suffice it to say, Trump took Clinton’s advice, though The Post reports that a Clinton aide said the 2016 campaign was not discussed.

What would be the motive behind the prospective “first man” to encourage a brash business man to be the mouth piece for the Republican Party?  Let’s see – who gains?  Trump has captured the spotlight – derailed the legitimate Republican contenders – and been the media darling for some time now.  Meanwhile, Hillary is riding high in the polls as the prospective Democratic nominee.

Perhaps their conversation was just friendly banter among political foes.  Perhaps their was collusion both knowing that Trump has little to no chance of being elected, but can be an effective diversion.  Perhaps there is far more than meets the eye.

From my perspective the question isn’t about politics, it’s about ethics and transparency.  Neither of which are naturally evident in politics.  Perhaps I want too much, but something doesn’t smell right here.  I’m sensing this is a “Wag the Dog” kind of moment.

  • Well Written. You hit the nail right on the Head. This is Almost Exactly what I have been thinking. ITs just way too suspicious: Trump gives them money, buddies up with them, participates in all kinds of activities with them, and suddenly becomes a Republican in time to Run for President? Not buying it. He is MORE liberal than Jeb & Rubio, & Maybe as Liberal as the Clintons. Except for Three Issues, he hasnt talked like a Conservative on Anything. I couldnt vote for Trump, Rubio, Jeb, Christie, Huckabee, or Graham. I will Vote for Cruz, Santorum or Jindal. I am still researching Carson.
